Did you know you can get Microsoft Office for FREE?

Yes, we are serious! We didn’t lure you here under false pretenses. As a Griffith student, you can download Office 365 Education for free.

This means you can get Office Online (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote), 1TB of OneDrive storage, Yammer, and SharePoint sites without spending your hard-earned cash.

Simply go to the Microsoft website, type in your Griffith email address and follow the prompts. You can install Office on up to 5 PCs or Macs and on other mobile devices, including Android, iPad®, and Windows tablets.

Microsoft Office 365 Education isn’t the only freebie you get as a Griffith student. Software Services also kindly provides you with Symantec Endpoint Protection, Endnote, SAS and more!

To view the complete list, please visit Software Services. You will also find handy instructions for downloading the software from your Google Drive.

Did you also know as a Griffith student you are entitled to an Internet account for study-related purposes? This means unlimited free internet downloads during off-peak hours and 20GB study allowance per month during peak hours. See Internet on campus for more information.

Google Drive and You

Did you know that you have access to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides  as part of your Griffith University email account? Docs, Sheets and Slides are an online productivity tool that are accessible from any computer or internet enabled smart device.  You are able to upload your MS Office files and have them stored in Google Drive for easy access.  Or you can convert them to Google Docs, Sheets or Slides to take advantage of the features on offer.

Docs, Sheets or Slides features include:

  1. Constant access to your work:
  2. Shared three different ways:
    • Can edit: others can edit your work and add their own content
    • Can comment: others may comment on your content but cannot change or add any content
    • Can view: others may view your work but cannot make comments on the page nor can they add or edit your work
  3. Multiple access:
    • if the work has been shared as a Can edit, the people included can edit your work, and can add their own content at the same time
This is great for group work since:
  • You can edit the same document at the same time
  • Group members don’t have to be on campus and can access the document from any computer or smart device
  • Revision history is kept so a record of who has done what work is available
  • You can download the Doc as an Office file ready for submission
