Music to your earsPosted: December 15, 2016
Michael Buble, Mariah Carey and even Justin Bieber’s Christmas albums are on repeat, which can only mean one thing – Christmas is well on its way. But before we heard “All I want for Christmas is you”, twenty five times a day the students from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU) were spreading joy with their music in our campus libraries.
Over Semester 1 and 2 we’ve had a range of remarkable music students from QCGU visit our campus libraries to showcase their musical prowess. With them they’ve brought pianos, oboes, harps and killer vocal ranges covering all music genres from pop to classical and even including original music.
The exciting innovation was introduced in Semester 2 2015 to help enliven campus library spaces and give QCGU students a chance to build valuable performance experience. The joint initiative between QCGU and our Music Librarian has been a collaborative effort that has given library users a truly unique experience – after all it’s not every day you are treated to a live library Opera! A big thanks to all the students who came along to perform and support these performances.
So take a break from Mariah, Michael and the Biebs with the highlights of Semester two’s library performances. Enjoy!
