Have you ever laughed so hard at a text message that you cried? Well, you would be familiar with the Face with Tears of Joy emoji. We’ve all used it. That’s why it was the Oxford Dictionary Word of the Year in 2015.

But what about if there were no tears? What if you ROFL? What emoji do you use then, hmmm? Up until now, you would’ve scrolled through all the emoji and realise you’d have to use actual words (shock, horror) to convey your message. But 72 new emoji are being released in late June, including a Rolling on the Floor Laughing one.

The new emoji characters will be made available in Unicode Version 9.0 which is scheduled for release on 21 June 2016. Check the Unicode Consortium web page for the full list of new emoji.

Which of the new emoji characters will you be using? Let us know in the comments below. We’ve selected our top 10:

  • Rolling on the floor laughing
  • Sneezing face
  • Shrug
  • Face palm
  • Selfie
  • Call me hand
  • Avocado
  • Pancakes
  • Bacon
  • Clinking glasses

Check out Emojipedia to see what the new emoji characters could potentially look like.
