How safe is your mobile device?Posted: March 30, 2014
TRUE STORY: A baby bought a car on eBay while playing with her dad’s phone! How safe is your mobile device?
When you lend your mobile device, did you realise you are also sharing your internet account, email, Facebook and as this dad discovered, your eBay account too?
Luckily we’ve got some tips to help you protect your digital life on your mobile device:
- Don’t keep passwords near your laptop and never share or give them to someone else.
- Remembering strong passwords or access numbers can be a challenge. However, leaving them in your laptop case or on your laptop is like leaving your keys in your car. Don’t make it easy for a thief to get to your personal information.
- Scammers, hackers and identity thieves are looking to steal your personal information – and your money. Don’t worry – there are steps you can take to protect yourself, like keeping your computer software up-to-date and giving out your personal information only when you have a good reason.
- After your first registration of your mobile device on Griffith Wi-Fi, you never have to log on to use the internet again. While this makes it convenient and easy for you to use, remember not to share the device with someone else, as all their internet use will be billed and logged against you!
