N53 construction – on site in August

Our contractors will mainly be concentrating on internal fit out works to the library extension during August.

These include:

  • Interior finishes (Joinery, painting, skirting, doors)
  • Feature ceilings and wall panelling to seminar room breakout spaces
  • Services fit off

Remember to collect a pair of earplugs from the single service location or from the client information kiosk in the foyer if you need them!

And drop by to see us to ask questions and collect information about the current construction project. At 10am each Wednesday we’ll be at the client information kiosk with a free donut and answers to all your questions.

See you soon!

    Hi!

I’m going to be doing an assignment on the library renovations, so I’ll come in on Wednesday at 10:00am to ask some questions. Who should I ask for? Also, is the ‘client information kiosk’ located in the library?

    Thanks,
    Megan

      Hi Megan,

Someone is going to email you directly about this. It is best to contact the Campus Life Project Manager Chris Kenvyn.

The Client Information Kiosk is in the Library – there are display boards and a TV opposite the assignment submission desk.

Hope all goes well with your assignment!

    Hi,

I was just wondering if the new part of the library will be opening up this semester? The construction isn’t annoying me or anything, I’m just excited about the extension!

    Thanks!

    Kaitlin.

    Hi Kaitlin,

The new extension will be completed by October this year and we will begin relocating both the library collections and student study spaces into levels 2 and 3 of the new building. These spaces will be individual quiet and silent study spaces.

The first collection to move will be the periodicals and during second semester (October – November) the entire library collection will be slowly relocated. During this time there will be some disruption to the library and we will be providing daily updates on changes to the spaces and location of library items.

By the start of semester 1 2011, the library collection will be relocated into a more user-friendly and attractive space across both the existing and new building. These spaces will include study spaces and print and computer spaces.

Early next year there will still be some work continuing in the library entrance areas and again library staff will be advising students on these changes.

There is a display in the library foyer which will be updated with the latest news, or come to our Wednesday morning “Demo a donut” sessions at 10am and ask some questions and eat some donuts.
