Postgrad Info Day March 6 Gold Coast and NathanPosted: January 14, 2010
Postgraduate Info Day is a starting point on which to build the skills needed to conduct research at the postgraduate level.
We suggest if you do not have recent experience of university study to begin the day with a tour to explore the library’s collections and service points, followed by an introductory session of Getting Online. We also recommend the Library Combo for Postgraduates which includes the essentials of library catalogue searching, using keywords to search a database, interlibrary loans and off-campus library services.
Afternoon sessions are more specialised in focus. Learn about discipline-specific research and resources for postgraduates in hands-on sessions facilitated by Information Literacy Librarians. Learning Services for postgraduates highlights additional support for the fine tuning of your academic skills (e.g. thesis writing), computing skills and library research skills. Finish off the day by attending an EndNote demonstration for an overview of software that will help you manage references and create bibliographies.
It may not be possible to fit all you’d like to learn into one day. However this is an excellent opportunity to build an awareness of resources and services that are available to you throughout your postgraduate journey at Griffith.
