Updates to library catalogue

We are making some updates to the library catalogue, to improve performance and usability at 5pm today. This is being done by

1. Changing the default search from keyword to title on the library homepage. This will mean your results will load much faster. The keyword searching option is still available , it will be located underneath the search box. See the image below for more details.

2. Adding “Author” search option directly on the library homepage.
3. Updating the terminology used in the catalogue search options to be consistent across the search screens. Currently when searching you may see the words “Search” or “Browse” and this can be confusing. All “Search” screens will now say “Search”.
4. Adding examples to each “Search” screen to help you identify the best search option for your needs.

These tweaks are based on your feedback and we hope they improve your user experience with searching the library catalogue.

Would be nice if Newcastle Uni would update our library site. Of particular frustration is the online journals. The way the search tools work is ok but compared to using google ugh.
